Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan is reported to have been flown abroad for medical check up.
This is the second time in less than five months that Jonathan has travelled abroad over her health condition.
In August 2012, the first lady was ill and travelled to Germany where she stayed till October 17th. That particular issue was a strong talking point in 2012, as the denial of her illness by aides in the presidency ended up embarrassing the presidency.
This time however, she has reportedly been flown to Spain.
Like Germany, Spain is not a new destination for ill Nigerian leaders and their families. In October 2005, Stella Obasanjo, Nigeria’s then first lady, died following complications from a surgery performed on her in Spain.
Our prayers are with her.
