These are scary times in Kano.
Only 48 hours after the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero narrowly escaped the assassins’ bullets, another potential tragedy was averted in the Kano Business District on Monday.
Reports say a bomb which was strategically concealed under a car parked inside the premises of a bank, was removed by a police anti-bomb disposal team and detonated.
The news however caused banks in the state capital to close as the scared bankers hurriedly left for home.
But for the timely intervention of the police team, which recovered and detonated the high caliber Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) the story might have been different.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Kano Command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, confirmed the oincident. He said, “we received a report that a strange object is lying fallow in the premises of a bank along Murtala Muhammad way. We dispatched our Anti-bomb Disposal team who established it was an Improvised Explosive Devise and was defused immediately”
He said things were now under control, and advised residents to go about their legitimate duties without fear of molestation.
