If you think
the feud between former Minister of Education under President Obasanjo and World Bank Vice President (Africa), Obiageli Ezekwesili and Special Assistant to the President on New Media, Reno Omokri is over, think again.
Nigerians haven’t really been keeping score, but after the Super Eagles scored 4 goals against their Malian counterparts who scored just 1, to book a place in the final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations in South Africa, the duo took to Twitter to continue their family feud.
Shortly after the game, Ezekwesili @obyezeks with 27,609 followers tweeted:
Omokri, on his personal Twitter handle (@renoomokri, with 26,990 followers at last count) replied:
@obyezeks Let’s not politicize this victory. Enjoy it. May God bless the Super Eagles, may God bless you and may God bless Nigeria.
@renoomokri: @obyezeks Again, lets not politicize this victory. Enjoy it. May God bless the Super Eagles, may God bless you and may God bless Nigeria.
Not to be outdone, Ezekwesili, alluding to Omokri’s infamous parable in which he likened her to a ‘wicked step mother’, had an equally measured response to him:
@renoomokri I don’t listen to wicked step sons my dear! Try another handle. 🙂
While the games continue, Nigerians will keep watching to see if the government will accept Ezekwesili’s challenge to an accountability debate or if or it will defend the allegations levelled against the Yar’Adua and Jonathan administrations.
We are now officially keeping score.
UPDATE: Maybe because she’s feeling sorry for Reno Omokri over the amount of heckles he’s receiving on Twitter following her tweet, or because she is feeling remorseful that she’d taken the swipe at him, Ezekwesili tweeted this about an hour after her earlier tweets.
#StepMomStepSon: Get a sense of humour guys. Cut my step son some slack, will you! …. 😉
