Boni Haruna, the former governor of Adamawa, and 2 of his aides were yesterday re-arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Yola by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
They were arraigned on charges of alleged fraud, conspiracy, forgery, diversion and laundering of public funds to the tune of over 200 million naira when Haruna served as the Governor of Adamawa state.
The two aides re-arraigned alongside the former governor are Mohammed Inuwa Bassey, personal assistant to the former governor, and John Babani Elias, former Commissioner of Finance. A company, Al-Akim Nigeria Limited is also listed as a defendant.
The case which began as far back as 2008, was recently transfered from the Federal High Court Abuja, presided by Justice Bello to the Federal High Court Yola presided by Justice Bilkisu Bello Aliyu.
The four accused persons who pleaded not guilty have been on trail before an Abuja High Court since 2008 for a 28 count charge of fraud to the tune of 200 million Naira when they served as government officials.
