Residents of Lambe in Ogun state received the shock of their lives when robbers sent them a letter telling them to expect a strike in the coming days.
So daring and boastful were the robbers that they asked the residents to feel free to invite the police if they liked.
“If you like, inform the police or your security men or OPC, you will just lose your lives,” the robbers warned.
The letter was written in Yoruba, and pasted on walls and streets in the area.
The robbers described themselves as friends of the residents, and advised them to prepare for their arrival and cooperate with them as they were coming soon.
“You residents of this area be prepared to receive your friends very soon. If you like, inform the police or your security men or OPC, you will just lose your lives. What is important is to cooperate with us and to get ready to give us a warm welcome.”
The robbers signed off the letters with: “We your friends, robbers”.
Residents expressed their fears over the letter, stating that robberies in the area have become frequent occurrences.
“Lambe has become the play ground of armed robbers. Incessant robbery attacks have forced landlords to flee the area and are now tenants in other places,” said a resident.
Most other are now living in fear and refused to speak with journalists as they did not know “who is who.”
