Eight opposition governors were in Owerri, the Imo capital on Tuesday, where they met and also held a sensitisation rally for the people of the South East.
The governors, under the aegis of the APC Governors’ Forum, have been doing a lot to bring awareness of their yet-to-be-registered party to the masses.
At a press conference after their meeting at the Imo Government House, the governors condemned what they called the “harassment of the Rivers governor.”
“A government freely formed by the democratic choice of Nigerians cannot be arbitrarily harassed and intimidated out of office through brazen use of power and outright abuse of same.
“We are concerned about developments in the polity. What is playing itself out in Rivers is an affront on the Constitution and Nigerian Federalism/Federation. We, therefore, strongly condemn the open assault on our Nation, Federalism and Sovereignty of our people. We call on the Presidency to stop the unwarranted assault on the sovereignty of Nigerians”, said Gov. Oshiomhole, who spoke on behalf of the governors.
Something about that press conference makes one feel that Gov. Amaechi is one of the governors who the opposition governors are eager to have in their fold.
