The biggest open secret in Rivers State was finally unveiled this week as posters of Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, appeared – literally – in Port Harcourt.
The posters supposedly “appeared” out of thin air because the man himself, Nyesom Wike, released a statement saying he has no idea who posted them. Right!
Nyesom Wike has been involved in a running battle with Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers. Both used to be close associates and Wike was the former chief of staff to the governor. They reportedly parted ways when Wike expressed intention to succeed Amaechi as governor but the governor was said to be against it since the both of them hail from the same ikwerre ethnic group.
