Let’s just be clear: We stumbled upon this beautiful photo courtesy of Leadership Newspaper and we wanted to share it with you. But we know how we are supposed to be a platform dedicated to politics, policy and public affairs and since this is just a photo of a cute lad sitting comfortably on a tortoise reportedly over 100 years old at the National Children’s Park and Zoo, Abuja, we had to include a slant to make it fit here.
So we decided to reproduce the absurd picture from two days ago showing kids in Kano being used to protest against the ouster of former Egyptian president, Mohammed Morsi. We believed that those kids had no idea what the protest was about and it was wrong of the organisers of that protest to use them in that manner.
Allow the children to enjoy their childhood and innocence like this lad. If you must make them worry about issues, then there are many in this country to worry about, including the fact that the Child Rights Act has still not been domesticated in Kano where that protest held. How about protesting to domesticate that and protecting the kids for a start?
