A US Republican senator, Ted Cruz, who is one of the chief antagonist of the controversial US health care law (Affordable Care Act) signed by President Obama, went to his home state of Houston on Monday where he was given a heroes’ welcome.
During his well received speech, he decided to take a shot at Nigeria, or more precisely at Nigerian internet scammers (yahoo guys) who prompt unsuspecting recipients to wire money to them. The Obamacare website have been having difficulties with many users finding it hard to register for government sponsored health care.
Relating that to the emails scammers from Nigeria, Cruz said, “You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately,” Cruz joked, according to the Houston Chronicle. “They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website.”
Cruz was speaking to a tea party crowd filling the headquarters of the King Street Patriots in his hometown Monday night, and he said it was good to be back.
“I’ve spent the past month in Washington, D.C.,” Cruz said. “It is terrific to be back in America.”
