A former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Festus Iyayi of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), lost his life on Tuesday in an auto crash in Lokoja, Kogi state.
Iyayi, who left Benin city Tuesday morning, met his death few kilometres after Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, around 10.30am on his way to the National Executive Council meeting of ASUU, scheduled for Kano.
The accident occurred when a vehicle in the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, crashed into the vehicle that was conveying him and his colleagues. As of the time of filing this report, the condition of the other passengers was not known.
Prof. Iyayi was the former Head of Department (HOD), Business Administration, Faculty of Social sciences, UNIBEN.
