Alleged ESUT resumption: ASUU says it’s not part of it

by Paul Osas

Following a report of an announcement by the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, management that students of the institution should resume today, November 18, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, ESUT Chapter in a statement dissociated itself from the planned resumption.

It said it awaits the direction of its NEC regarding the strike. The Union in the statement signed by  the Chairman of ASUU-ESUT, Prof. Agu Gab Agu and others ceased the opportunity to commiserate with the family of late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former ASUU president adding that “His death was a big loss to the union, the academia and the country in general,”

The union reiterated that “While ASUU-ESUT mourns the demise of Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former President of ASUU, it awaits the direction of the NEC on the ongoing strike.”
