Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has finally declared his intention to seek re-election in the forthcoming governorship election in the state. As is customary with politicians, he ascribed his intention to calls by the Ekiti people.
Fayemi in a statement personally signed in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, said: “Following the ground swell of support by leaders and members of our party as well as the generality of Ekiti people from the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State and in the Diaspora, it is with a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility that I today accept the calls by our people to seek re-election for a second term in office.”
The governor named a current member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bimbo Daramola as the team leader and Director -General of his campaign organisation.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the elections is slated to hold June 21, this year.
Fayemi in the statement stressed that, ” You have made the calls, and today I have opted to act in deference to those sacred calls by throwing my hat into the ring for a free and fair contest for the exalted office for a second term.”
