On Wednesday, President Goodluck Jonathan swore in new ministers at the state house in Abuja. But before he did that, he fired the minister of sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, the Kwara born former journalist who first handled the Youth Development portfolio in the federal cabinet. Dr. Tamuno Danagogo, from Rivers state will now replace Adbullahi as sports minister.
Meanwhile, former Adamawa governor, Boni Haruna, will be stepping into one of Abdullahi’s former roles as substantive minister of youth development.
Other appointments made include that of power (Mohammed Wakil), police affairs (Abduljelili Adesiyan), and foreign affairs (Aminu Wali). Mrs. Ekon Eyakenyi replaces Ama Pepple as land and housing minister, Asabe Asmau Ahmed is the new minister of state for agriculture, Khaliru Alhassan is minister of State for Health, while Lawrencia Laraba Mallam is the new minister of environment.
As expected, President Jonathan appointed Aliyu Gusau as the minister of defence, while the minister of state in that ministry will be Musiliu Obanikoro.
