The Peoples Democratic Party has blasted the All Progressives Congress for its sustained criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan over the photo of the president and the former Borno governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, who is alleged to be a sponsor of terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
The PDP statement which was signed by its spokesman, Lai Mohammed, accused the APC of employing lying as its official creed. He said that the APC was lying to Nigerians by claiming that Pres. Jonathan travelled to Chad on the president’s entourage.
Metuh further stated that two governors of the All Progressives Congress are set to defect from the opposition party to the ruling party. He also claimed that some members of the National Assembly who are members of the APC were also set to defect to the ruling party.
His claim will sound very familiar to the APC as it is one which that party also makes quite often. For instance, in June 2013, APC publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, claimed that 12 PDP governors were on their way to the APC and were simply waiting for registration of the new party to be concluded. Since the APC’s registration in Juy 2013, just five governors have decamped from the PDP.
Meuh said: “Many more of its members including two state governors and members of the National Assembly are now set to decamp to the PDP due to the bad image and anti-democratic stance of the APC.”
He also upbraided the APC leaders for “working against the national interest and making themselves a laughing stock in the eyes of the international community by going to the British House of Commons and various international events to concoct stories in a bid to damage the image of their own nation.”
