UNIBEN lecturer arrested for allegedly forging signature of ASUU chairman

A lecturer in the Department of Chemistry from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has been arrested by the police for allegedly forging the letter headed paper of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and the signature of the UNIBEN ASUU chairman, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emina.

His arrest on October 4th followed a month long investigation by the police.

The suspect had allegedly used the forged letter headed paper to write a petition to the Minister of Education, stating that the current Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Oshodin was no longer fit to oversee the running of the institution, citing ‘health issues’ as the reason. He had claimed in his letter that there was a need to appoint an acting VC urgently for the institution.
