The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso on Chieftaincy and Emirate Council Affairs, Alhaji Tijjani Mailafiya, has confirmed the release of the diplomatic passport and travelling documents of the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Mailafiya said that the Kano state director of the Department for State Security (DSS), Bassey Etang, released the documents to the Emir on Saturday morning.
He lauded the federal government for releasing the passport, which he said would allow the emir to travel when necessary as he continues to work for his people at home and abroad.
Sanusi’s passport was seized in February in the peak of the battle between him and the federal government when he was suspended as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The release of the passports is coming just one week after the emir and his counsellors visited President Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
