The election season in Rivers state is getting really violent as D-day approaches.
Once again, an All Progressives Congress, APC, office have been attacked, this time in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Andoni Local Government in Rivers State. Less than a week ago, the campaign office of the APC governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside, was bombed in Okrika, the hometown of the wife of the president, Patience Jonathan.
The Omoku attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday even as the APC candidate was preparing to campaign in the town on the same day.
The campaign manager of Dakuku Peterside Organization in Ogba/Egbema/ANdoni Local Government, Austin Ahiamadu, said the attack on the party’s office was intended to disrupt the APC campaign rally.
“Throughout the night there were sporadic shooting with gunmen attacking key loyalists of our party. Other parties have organized campaigns in Omoku and APC members have never attacked them. The action is cowardly and meant to intimidate APC,” he said.
The campaign rally however went on as planned despite the attack on APC office in Omoku.
