At Thursday’s sit-out session, the #BringBackOurGirls group praised the Nigerian military and the commander-in-chief Goodluck Jonathan for visiting some of the villages which were previously in the hands of terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Pres. Jonathan yesterday visited Mubi in Adamawa state, as well as Baga in Borno state, which were both reclaimed by the military in a fresh offensive against the terrorist group.
One of the leaders of the group, Obiageli Ezekwesili stated that the group does not kick against the activities of the federal government and the security operatives and was not shy to give commendation when it is due.
She said that there has been a campaign to portray the group as not being supportive of the military. According to her, such a view was misplaced. She said that Nigerians should not believe in the misinformation as the group totally supports the military.
Ezekwesili said that the fact that the group is demanding accountability from the security agencies does not mean that the group is against the Nigeria army rather, but that the group wanted the security agencies to share more information so as to build trust among Nigerians.
She expressed joy that the group’s constructive criticism of the military was yielding results, commending the army for personally supervising the return of locals to Michika and Baga.
