The victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the governorship polls in Plateau state has ushered in a boom for broom sales in the state.
Simon Lalong of the APC defeated Sen. Gyang Pwajok of the PDP to emerge victorious in last Saturday’s governorship election.
‘Broom’ is the known element in the logo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which not only dislodged the PDP in Abuja for the first time, but also pulled off the same feat in Plateau.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that immediately victory was pronounced in favour of the APC, supporters flooded the markets in search of brooms to celebrate the result of the election. The ecstatic supporters were seen with brooms attached to their clothes, caps and head ties as a sign of victory.
Vehicle owners were not left out either as they also used brooms as their windscreen wipers, just as some attached same to their side mirrors.
Stalls at the Terminus Market in the Jos North Local Government area were also decorated with brooms and APC flags.
It was also observed that as supporters of APC were chanting victory songs, broom sellers identified and relocated to areas of such celebration to make brisk business.
