A 16 year old Azeez Ganiyu, who resides at Ijora Badia area in Lagos state, has been arraigned in a Magistrate’s court in Apapa for allegedly defiling a 2 year old girl.
According to reports, Ganiyu lured the unsuspecting 2 year old into an uncompleted building where he defiled her.
Mr. Soji Ojaokomo, the Prosecutor revealed that the devious act happened when the mother of the girl went to buy food for her.
“Ganiyu took the girl to an uncompleted building beside the house and defiled her. Her mother started looking for her child on her return and she asked her neighbor, who said she left the girl to play outside with her children.
“The mother said while she was searching for her child, she heard her screaming from an uncompleted building beside the house. When she got there, she saw Ganiyu satisfying his carnal desires with the child,” said the prosecutor.
According to Ojaokomo, the act contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011.
The Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya in his ruling ordered that the case be forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
According to Section 137, the punishment for the defilement of a minor is life imprisonment.
Ganiyu pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by the Magistrate on the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and the case was adjourned to May 5 pending the receipt of legal advice.
