The Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Saturday issued his first directive on all residents of the state after his inauguration into office on May 29.
Ganduje, being accompanied by his deputy, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, declared a seven-day sanitation exercise tagged ‘Keep Kano Clean’ acoss the eight metropolitan local government areas of the state, to get rid of all the refuse.
At the flagging off ceremony, the Governor said that the initiation of the weeklong exercise was targeted at keeping the state clean, and preventing the outbreak of diseases.
He stated that the state government would employ women to serve as inspection workers, who would go from house to house to ensure that all residents of the state live in a clean environment.
He further stated that a night sanitation exercise would be introduced with focus on areas with heavy vehicular movement at day time.
