Following a series of controversial pieces aimed at the Fulani ethnic group, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been given an ultimatum by a Fulani socio-cultural association, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, to publicly apologize or face legal action.
Following the kidnap of elder statesman, Olu Falae, Fani-Kayode, made several utterances about the Fulani herdsmen, one of which was describing them as ‘tsetse flies, locust and leeches’. Already, Chidi Odinkalu, the head of the National Human Rights Commission has reprimanded the former aviation minister. But Fani-Kayode has refused to back down.
The National president of the Miyetti Allah, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, said on Wednesday, that if Fani-Kayode fails to apologise, legal actions would be taken against him.
“We want Femi Fani-Kayode to publicly withdraw his hate speech and wrongful criminal allegation against the entire Fulani race to avoid legal action by us.
“We want FG to deal with anybody no matter highly place in Nigeria if they did not guide their utterances,” the statement said.
