The management of Lekki Gardens Estate Limited says the company is not owned by the former Governor of Akwa Ibom and current senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio.
Media reports last month claimed that the former two-term Governor of the oil rich state owns the company and it formed part of the reasons he was questioned by the EFCC last month. The report claimed that it was Akpabio’s substantial investment in the company that enabled the firm grow from a middle market real estate consultancy firm to a major player in the property market in less than five years.
But in a statement on Sunday, the Director, Media and Communication, Lekki Gardens, Azuka Ugboh, said the firm was not owned by Akpabio and had no business with him.
“Senator Akpabio has never injected capital into our company and we have never received any sort of funding from him since the inception of the company,” the statement said.
Ugboh further stated that the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Richard Nyong, had never met or had any business dealings with Akpabio in relation to Lekki Gardens Limited or GTRich Investment Limited.
