Rivers govt to give Super Eagles $20,000 for every goal they score against Tanzania

The Rivers government has promised to give $20,000 to the Super Eagles of Nigeria for every goal they score against the Tanzanian national team in Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier taking place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The first leg of the qualifier in Lobamba, Tanzania, ended in a goalless draw so the Rivers government announced the cash incentive to spur the Super Eagles to score goals in the return leg.

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Kenneth Kobani, made the pledge to the Super Eagles on behalf of the state after attending their final training session on Monday. He said that Governor Wike was away in Abuja but would be back to host the Eagles to a dinner hopefully after they would have qualified for the next stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
