The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun, has said that Timi Frank, who is the acting national publicity secretary of the party, can no longer speak on behalf of the party. Frank was deputy spokesman under Lai Mohammed and was expected to act as spokesman since Mohammed’s appointment as a federal minister.
“If there is any issue that needs clarification for now, the national secretary, Malam Mai-Malla Buni, can handle it,” Odigie-Oyegun said to journalists in Abuja.
The chairman said arrangements have been made for Buni to act in that capacity until the party elects a new national publicity secretary.
“Let me start by saying who does not speak for the party, the person you are talking about (Frank) does not speak for the party. The national secretary will do so for the party and also when I speak, I speak for the party. It is as simple as that,” Odigie-Oyegun said.
However, Timi Frank has kicked against the chairman’s position, saying such amounted to usurpation of his responsibility as provided for in the party’s constitution.
Addressing a press conference, Frank Saif he remains the spokesman until a new election is conducted.
