The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, was in Akwa Ibom state two days ago as he continued his tour of states. He had also been in Rivers earlier where he met at the Government House with Gov. Nyesom Wike.
In Akwa Ibom, Adeboye held a Holy Ghost rally at the Uyo Township Stadium which had a packed crowd. Also present at the event were the state governor, Emmanuel Udom and his challenger from the All Progressives Congress, Umana Umana, who recently won Gov. Udom at the Appeal court and got the court to order a fresh governorship election in the state. The case is currently at the Supreme Court.
In a short message, Gov. Udom welcomed Pastor Adeboye and the members of the RCCG to Akwa Ibom. It was interesting to watch Umana’s face and demeanor as Udom spoke. The camera repeatedly focused on Umana and his wife as they seemingly tried hard to contain their irritation for their rival as he quoted bible scripture after bible scripture in his welcome address.
The event had ‘Divine Visitaton’as its theme, and Gov. Udom said it is particularly important for a state like Akwa Ibom which is named after God. Udom was apparently referring to ‘Akwa Abasi Ibom’ which means God’s own state. He said, ”God is visiting us to forgive us, to forgive the sins of the state, to forgive the sins of our forefathers, to forgive the sins of our ancestors.” According to him, Akwa Ibomites should expect the unexpected at the Holy Ghost rally because ”once there is Holy Ghost, expect the unexpected, expect what man can’t do.”
As the governor spoke, the crowd cheered and shouted amen to his message. Umana did not however seem too impressed. Watch the short video below:
