The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh who has been in detention for thirteen days, has been released.
Metuh is facing trial over allegations that he received the sum of N400m out of monies meant for the purchase of arms which were misappropriated by the former national security adviser. Even though the court had granted bail to Dasuki since last week, he was unable to meet the conditions, until Tuesday this week when Justice Okon Abang varied the conditions of the bail.
The previous bail condition had stipulated that Metuh must have two sureties with landed property in the Maitama area of Abuja. However, the judge varied the condition and ordered that the sureties have properties anywhere in Abuja. With the variation, Metuh was able to meet the bail condition today and was thus released on bail.
Meanwhile, Metuh’s trial has been going on for four straight days in court with the EFCC calling several witnesses who have testified against Metuh.
