Social media came alive when Nigerians heard news that top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were meeting with vice president Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa on Wednesday. Among the leaders at the meeting were senate president Bukola Saraki; former VP Atiku Abubakar; former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu; former national chairman Bisi Akande; current chairman John Odigie-Oyegun; senate leader, Ali Ndume; among others.
The expectation was that after the meeting, a statement will be released on the agenda. Everyone waited, and many speculated as they waited. At last, Laolu Akande, the spokesman to the vice president issued a statement which he tagged: ”A read-out from the APC’s consultative meeting which held at the presidency today”. It is one of the most unhelpful statements you will ever read as it basically repeated everything we already knew – NOTHING.
Here’s what the terse statement said:
Select leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, drawn from the party’s National Headquarters, the legislative and executive arms of government had a consultative meeting on issues affecting the party and the nation.
The meeting, which held at the Vice President’s conference room, was very useful and resourceful towards achieving the goals of the party and the government.
That’s all. Anyway, it happened at the villa so one thing is sure, details will soon be leaked out to the press. So stay tuned.
