Nigeria’s former number one soldier charged in court with mind-boggling corruption allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a 10-count criminal charge against the former Chief of Defense Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, at an Abuja Federal High court.

Badeh is accused of misappropriating money meant for the prosecution of the war against terror and using it to acquire properties in Abuja.

He is also accused of using N60 million to renovate the home of his son, Alex Badeh Jnr, who is currently at large.

Furthermore, he is alleged to have paid N878.36million into the account of Rytebuilders Technologies Limited for the construction of a shopping mall in Abuja.

Equally named in the suit, as the second defendant, is a Nigerian firm, Iyalikam Nigerian Limited.

In Count one ‎of the charge against Badeh and Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, they were alleged to have used the dollar equivalent of the sum of N1, 100, 000, 000.00 (One Billion, One Hundred Million Naira only), removed from the accounts of the Nigerian Air Force, to purchase a mansion situated at No. 6 Ogun River Street, Off Danube Street, Maitama, Abuja. According to the charge, the accused persons “reasonably ought to have known that the said funds formed part of proceed of unlawful activity.”
