Kogi assembly factions meet each other for the first time since February

For the first time since February 2016, the members of the two factions of the Kogi State House of Assembly, met with each other.

They have been at loggerheads since a faction of five members, with the backing of Gov. Yahaya Bello, impeached the majority faction of fifteen members. While Imam Umar led the minority faction, the majority faction was led by speaker Momoh Jimoh Lawal.

The meeting took place at the Government House, Lokoja and was at the instance of the governor.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, which held behind closed doors, spokesman of the G15 group, Kolawole Matthew, said they had opened up discussion towards finding lasting solution to the impasse.
