PDP says if Gov. Wike was in the APC, he would have been regarded as a god

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what it described as “undeserved insults on the leader of the PDP, and executive governor of the State, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike, a man that qualifies to be deified if he were a chieftain of the APC, surpassing all its members put together in terms of ideas, leadership qualities, performance and vision.”

The reaction of the PDP followed an earlier statement by the APC in which it accused Gov. Wike of wasting monies belonging to Rivers state in bankrolling the affairs of the opposition party by hosting the national convention of the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP.

The APC said that Gov. Wike was “masturbating his ego as the new PDP strongman” and bleeding Rivers state in the process.

“While our governor is playing the PDP most wasteful spending governor, civil servants, RSHA legislative aides, medical workers, teachers and other workers in different sectors in the State are groaning and protesting several months of unpaid salaries and wages,” the APC said in a statement signed by its Rivers spokesman, Senibo Chris Finebone.

In response, the PDP said that the APC was only opposed to the hosting of the convention because it punctures their propaganda of Rivers state as a state grappling with insecurity. It hailed the “unequalled efforts of the God-sent Executive Governor of the State, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike who has roundly demonstrated an unstoppable interest in restoring sanity to the State by putting to an end the regime of organized crime aimed at mortgaging the State by a few inconsequential political neophytes insisting on the ‘old order’”.

The PDP also criticised the APC led federal government over the worsening economic indicators in the country, saying that Nigeria has “completely collapsed beyond resuscitation due to the visionlessness, cacophony of lies, uncoordinated policies of the APC and a tintinnabulation of political jingoism through witch-hunt, selective war against corruption that is anchored on precarious feet of falsehood and vendetta etc.”

The party further said that hosting its national convention in Port Harcourt will showcase the tourism potentials of the state and open up Rivers to potential investors desirous of taking advantage of the rich oil and gas resources to invest.
