The Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike, took a swipe on Wednesday at his Edo counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole, describing him as a liar who is given to inconsistencies. This followed Oshiomhole’s accusation that Wike sent N2 billion to the Edo state PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Wike, who also denied Oshiomhole’s claim that he and Delta governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, have mobilised militants to Edo state in preparation for this month’s governorship poll, said that the Edo governor is in a panic mode over the rejection of the APC in Edo State.
“Oshiomhole at his age should stop dramatising and telling lies. What will his children say when they see him behave like that,” said Wike when he hosted the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Rivers State at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
IPAC comprises of all registered political parties. According to a statement from the Rivers Government House Press Office, only the All Progressives Congress (APC) was absent at the solidarity visit by the registered political parties to Governor Wike.
Wike expressed shock at Oshiomhole’s allegation, saying that on the day of the PDP campaign in Benin, he met with the Edo governor at the Benin airport where they all embraced.
“Oshiomhole even cornered me and said ‘don’t mind these people, they don’t know that we meet and talk,'” he said.
Wike slammed Oshiomhole, claiming that the Edo governor has lost the confidence of his people.
“Oshiomhole doesnt know when to stop lying. Why do you think that you will continue to deceive the people. This was the same man who praised former President Goodluck Jonathan for promoting free and fair election, one man, one vote which saw Oshiomhole win a second term. Today in his notorious inconsistency, anywhere Oshiomhole goes, he insults the former President. When President Buhari leaves office, Oshiomole will do the same to him,” he said.
Wike said that Oshiomhole is no longer pro-people. “The Comrade in Oshiomhole has died long ago. There is no Comrade in him. From Khaki, he is now wearing costly imported Safari Suits,” he said.
The Edo election which comes up this month pits PDP candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, against the APC candidate, Godwin Obaseki.
