Edo 2016: Oshiomhole declares September 27, 28 as public holidays

Ahead of Wednesday’s governorship election in Edo State, Governor Adams Oshiomhole has declared September 27 and 28 as public holidays in the state to allow widespread participation in the elections.

While announcing this at a reception organized for him by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress in Benin on Saturday night, Oshiomhole noted that the holidays will enable eligible voters travel to their place(s) of registration and take part in the election.

The Edo governorship poll pits Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole, against Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
