The Zamfara Government has asked four professors and one doctor to document the history of the state from 1996 when it was founded to date and publish it as a book.
The state’s Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Alhaji Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, on preparations to mark the 20 years anniversary of the state since its creation.
The first edition of the book will be presented to the public on October 1.
The academics who worked on the book were led by a professor of history at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and an indigene of the state, Prof. Kabir Suleiman. Others include Prof. Mohammed Gusau, Prof. Lawal Bilbis, Prof. Tukur Adamu and Dr Bello Aliyu, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF).
According to Birnin-Magaji, the state government decided to work on the project because there was no documented history of the state apart from the one written several years ago by Garba Duba.
