The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched new Twitter accounts which will be dedicated to providing information to people in indigenous Nigerian languages; Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and pidgin.
The party, in a statement by its spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye on Tuesday, stated that the new Twitter accounts will help “maximize interactions on the way forward for the party.”
According to him, the new Twitter handles are effective immediately and ”they are Igbo– @pdpnhqigbonig, Yoruba– @pdpnhqyorubanig, Hausa- @pdpnhqhausanig and Pidgin– @pdpnhqpidginnig.”
In the statement, Adeyeye recalled that the party closed its former Twitter account recently due to the issuance of unauthorized statements via the account and reiterated that the party’s official accounts “remain @officialpdpnig; Facebook account – “Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria; and Email – firstname.lastname@example.org.”
He urged members to defend the interests of the party on every platform and in whatever way possible, adding that the party is focused on rescuing “Nigerians from the scourge of recession, oppression, hunger, intimidation, autocracy, starvation, insecurity, economic induced suicides and mal-administration by the APC led federal and states government.”
“Finally, we call on our members nationwide to unite and stay focus as one indivisible body in these unprecedented trying times in our party and nation’s history. Nigeria is ours, let’s work together to salvage her,” he said.
