Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has been rearrested by operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to Deji Adeyanju, an associate of his.
The arrest on Friday took place after the resumed hearing in the N4.9 billion money laundering and fraud case against Fani-Kayode; a former minister of state for finance, Nenadi Usman; among others at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
According to Adeyanju, the EFCC operatives arrested only Fani-Kayode, but allowed his co-defendants to leave.
Earlier this week, Fani-Kayode criticised the commission for “arresting” his wife and son in Ekiti after they had attempted to withdraw money from an Access bank branch. The commission said it did not arrest them but only asked the police to take his wife’s statement as she attempted to withdraw money from an account which had been frozen.
It took the intervention of Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti to forcefully prevent the authorities from taking any action against Fani-Kayode’s wife.
