The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, on Friday taunted those who are behind recent online reports that he had been suspended when he resumed for duties at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
On his way to the President’s office, Kyari stopped by at the Press Gallery of the Council Chamber and jokingly told reporters he saw that, “go and tweet that I am here.”
On his way back to his office, Kyari repeated the same message.
When some journalists asked him to formally react to the reports of his suspension which were mainly on the social media, Kyari said by virtue of his office, he does not grant press interviews.
When probed further, the Chief of Staff asked, “Can’t I go on leave?”
Kyari had cracked a similar joke with State House correspondents on Tuesday.
There have been reports that Buhari suspended the Chief of Staff over an allegation of bribery levelled against him in connection with the reduction of the fine imposed on a telecommunication firm, MTN Nigeria, by the Nigeria Communication Commission.
