Supreme Court Justices Okoro and Ngwuta step down

Two justices of the supreme court, Inyang Okoro and Sylvester Ngwuta, who are being accused of corruption, have recused themselves of further sitting on cases in the court till issues are resolved, according to the spokesperson of Nigeria’s Supreme Court, Ahuraka Isah.

Okoro and Ngwutam were among seven judges arrested by operatives of the State Security Service in early October.

“None of the judges whose houses were raided and arrested by the SSS have been suspended by the NJC,” the spokesperson told Premium Times newspaper. “But the two affected Supreme Court justices voluntarily recused themselves from all judicial functions since the raid occurred.”
