Another Angle: Ondo Sen. Omogunwa asks lawmakers to legalise corruption in Nigeria

A Senator representing Ondo State, Omoyele Omogunwa has made a plea for the  Senate to legalise corruption in order to enable budgets have maximal impact.

And he wasn’t even joking.

Omogunwa made the shocking plea during plenary on Wednesday when Senators were reacting to the 2017 Appropriation Bill  submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly.

The Senator noted that the previous budgets have not made any impact on the lives of Nigerians because of the pervasive corruption in the country.

Rather than calling for sincerity in the fight against corruption or stronger enforcement of the laws, Sen. Omogunwa raised his hands in surrender and asked that corruption be legalised so the budget could be impactful to the common man.

He argued that if corruption is legalised, Nigerians who stole public funds would use them in building factories and industries in the country, instead of diverting the monies abroad.
