Audu Maikori, the CEO of Chocolate City record label, has been arrested by Nigerian Security operatives.
According to @chairmanNHRC, Maikori was picked up in Lagos on Friday and was flown to the Police Headquarters in Abuja.
It is believed that Audu is being held for his advocacy over the Southern Kaduna crisis.
Maikori was recently embroiled in a fake news controversy, when he tweeted a story about the killing of five Kaduna tertiary institution students by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The story turned out to be false and he tendered an apology for the fakenews.
Popular Chocolate City rapper MI Abaga also confirmed Audu’s arrest on Twitter.
The rapper joined hordes of other activists on Twitter to condemn Audu’s arrest and demand his immediate release.
