Controversy is trailing the adoption of the Ekiti Deputy Governor Professor Kolapo Olusola by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the preferred candidate of the party ahead of the 2018 governorship election in the state. Olusola was endorsed by Governor Ayo Fayose at a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday and adopted by stakeholders in the party, a move which has led some of the aspirants to kick in protest.
One such aggrieved aspirant is Professor Dayo Adeyeye, a former minister and current National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, who yesterday resigned as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Ekiti State University (EKSU).
His resignation has been accepted by the Ekiti State Government. In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Modupe Alade, the government thanked Adeyeye for his service to the university and wished him well in his future endeavours..
It added that Fayose has approved the appointment of Dele Adesina (SAN) as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the university’s governing council.
