On Saturday, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Noheem Adams, defeated eight other candidates to win the Eti-Osa Constituency I bye-election in Lagos State.
Record: The most intriguing thing about the election was the announcement by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Oyeyemi Oyedola, that the percentage turnout of voters was just 3.42 per cent. Out of 183,551 registered voters in the constituency, only 6,280 voters showed up with 6,015 valid votes cast. For some context, the last general elections in Nigeria had a voter turnout of 42.65%.
Results: Adams polled 4,204 votes to defeat his closest rival, Arubiewe Abogun of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 1,652 votes.
