One of the aspirants for the chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tunde Adeniran, has refuted reports that his ambition is being sponsored by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Ogun State lawmaker, Buruji Kashamu.
Campaign of calumny: The former minister, through the Director General of his campaign organization, Shehu Gabam described the reports as a “campaign of calumny and total falsehood” by those afraid of the imminent victory of the Professor.
The tactics of detractors: According to Gabam, this is not the first time detractors will be peddling unfounded rumors against the chairmanship aspirant; all in a bid to ensure that Adeniran’s good intentions do not see the light of day.
Quote: “Is it not interesting that after the allegation of Buruji sponsoring the campaign did not fly, they changed tactics and started mentioning Atiku. It wasn’t Prof. Adeniran that brought Buruji into the party; it was a state affair.
“It was the party in Ogun State that brought him in. Atiku is not even in the party (PDP) and I can say it without fear that neither Prof. Adeniran nor the campaign organization has met with Atiku. It is alarming that these same people that are raising this allegation are the ones holding nocturnal meetings with these people to beg for their endorsement,” Gabam said.
