Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has dismissed the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Augustine Nwakwoagu over “acts inconsistent with his official duties.”
There are many who would look at that and pray Pres. Muhammadu Buhari steps up and does the same to the nation’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, whose role in the recall of Abdulrasheed Maina into the Civil Service has cast a shadow over the commitment of the administration to the anti-corruption war.
Umahi’s Principal Secretary, Clement Nweke, in a statement on Wednesday directed the former AG to hand over government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice before the close of work on Thursday.
It is not yet clear what the ‘inconsistent acts’ that led to the sack of the one-time speaker of the Ebonyi state House of Assembly are. In the case of Malami, there are letters and memos showing acts widely considered as inconsistent with the oath he swore as the nation’s chief law officer.
Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
