What: The marriage introduction ceremony between daughter of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Fatima Baby Ganduje and son of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Idris Abiola Ajimobi.
Where: In the ancient city of Kano.
Who: 11 governors, House of Assembly members and other dignitaries attended. Governors include: Alhaji Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi), Hon. Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina) and Abdulfatai Ahmed (Kwara).
Event: The Emir of Kano who consented to the proposal on behalf of Governor Ganduje described the union as a way to cementing relationships between southern and northern Nigeria.
Citing the Quran and Hadith, the emir reminded the gathering that tribalism or ethnicity that has been a dividing factor in the country has no place in Islam.
He commended governors Ganduje and Ajomobi for leading a good example for the people to follow for peaceful co-existence in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Ajimobis, Governor Aregbesola thanked the emir and the Kano governor for approving the proposal assuring that the union would be taken beyond mere union between two families.
