The Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has said that the Nigerian Senate does not recognize Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) any longer.
“There are petitions against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by some Nigerians, but my Committee does not see Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman and that is why he was not invited,” Anyanwu, a PDP senator, said at a press conference.
Several rejections of Magu’s candidacy by the Senate has not budged the Presidency which continues to insist that it is Magu or no one else for the EFCC top job.
Anyanwu said his committee will use the 2018 budget defence to follow through on its opposition to Magu.
“The 2018 budget is here, we will it as instrument against EFCC for defying Senate resolution on Ibrahim Magu,” Anyanwu said.
