The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, says that until it has had the opportunity of studying the statement by former president Olusegun Obasanjo criticising Pres. Muhammadu Buhari, it would be unable to respond.
“The situation is that APC does not have a response at this time,” the APC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, said in response to an inquiry.
“Maybe if we are given the opportunity to study the letter more closely, we will have a response.”
The party scribe said for now all it has relied on has been what the media has circulated.
“I will not be able to react to any content of the statement until we have the opportunity to study it,” he said.
The main opposition party, PDP, on the other hand, welcomed Obasanjo’s statement describing it as patriotic. However the PDP disagreed with Obasanjo’s conclusion that Nigerians need to dump both the PDP and APC and aligns with a third force.
Obasanjo had said in his statement on Tuesday entitled “The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement”, that Pres. Buhari should not seek reelection as he has faltered and disappointed Nigerians.
