The Kano Police Command, Friday advised Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to shelve his much anticipated planned visit to Kano next Tuesday for a rally.
“There is apprehension amongst the general populace and tendency to hijack the visit by some disgruntled politicians or miscreants can’t be wished away,” the state commissioner of police, Rabiu Yusuf told reporters.
Yusuf disclosed that there was credible information at the disposal of the Command of a possible security breakdown.
There are fears that the rally could lead to clashes as the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as the mainstream APC in the state have another rally planned for the same day.
Both the governor and Sen. Kwankwaso belong to the APC. In fact Ganduje served as deputy to Kwankwaso for eight years. But the two men fell out shortly after Ganduje became governor in 2015.
