The much anticipated visit by former Kano Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to his state has been called off following apprehension over a possible security breakdown.
According to a former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Dr Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, who spoke on behalf of the former governor, the cancellation followed series of consultations.
Senator Kwankwaso said, “I have shelved my visit to Kano to avoid political clash in the state following series of advices I have received from well-meaning Nigerians home and abroad.
“In view of this and after lengthy consultations with well-meaning Nigerians home and abroad, we painfully have decided to shelve the scheduled visit at the moment.”
The police directed that Kwankwaso moves his rally to another time to prevent a clash with supporters of Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje who planned another rally on the same day. Kwankwaso had however insisted before now that the rally would go on no matter what.
