Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos has denied bail to the former Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose, on an 11-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges bordered on money laundering, abuse of public office, criminal breach of trust and stealing of up to N6.9 billion.
He has been at the EFCC office since last Monday, 15th October when he turned himself in.
- Fayose pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him
- His counsel, Kanu Agabi, filed a bail application, but the presiding judge rejected the application and ordered for Fayose to remain in the custody of EFCC until Wednesday.
- Next court date is Wednesday, 24th October, 2018.
